INGS triumph in schools tournament

For the second successive year Ings took the title in the school tournament for years 3 and 4.

The Scorpion coaches Barry Marshall and Grant Douglas (Dougie) have been coaching in Ings, Griffin, Thanet and Mountbatten Primary schools for seven weeks culminating in the tournament held on Thursday 7th June.

Ings had a hard act to follow after their success in the 2017 tournament but produced a strong performance to remain unbeaten and take the title once again.

Griffin and Mountbatten pushed them all the way and were competitive throughout.

Thanet fielded a team consisting of year 3 only which, because of this experience, should make them early favourites for the tournament in 2019.

The games were played in a good spirit, the children had fun, the sun shone and there was a good attendance by parents.

Undoubtedly a really good day, displaying everything good for sport in general and baseball in particular.

Now it’s the turn of years 5 and 6 to compete in the coming weeks.
